Parenting involves caring for a child from infancy to adulthood, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development. This includes providing basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter, as well as creating a safe and nurturing environment. It’s about building a strong bond with your child, teaching them essential life skills, and helping them develop healthy emotional and behavioral patterns. Consistency and stability are crucial for a child’s sense of security.
Nurture Haven evaluates your parenting skills on behalf of the Court. We examine your ability to care for your child’s needs and ensure their safety. We’re not looking for perfection, but rather assessing whether you can provide a “good enough” standard of care. This means meeting your child’s basic needs, prioritising their well-being, providing consistent care, and being open to support services.
Unsafe parenting involves neglecting a child’s basic needs, prioritizing adult needs, creating a chaotic environment, and refusing help
Our assessment involves getting to know you and your child through observations, discussions, and practical support. We’ll talk to you, watch you interact with your child, and offer guidance. In some cases, we may speak to people who know you well or use drug and alcohol tests. We have regular meetings to discuss your progress and involve other professionals, such as your child’s social worker, to create a clear plan.
